Elders & Deacons
The following people serve as elders and deacons at Lake B, offering support to our diverse community. Elders and deacons are essential to the short and long-term health of Lake B. We’re so grateful for the incredible leadership of our elders and deacons!
Elders (also called Session)
Elders are nominated by the congregation and voluntarily serve terms ranging from one to three years. Elders meet monthly (or hold session) to listen to staff and community members about important issues, support church ministries and community partnerships, oversee our annual budget, and discern how we can better embody the gospel fully alive.
Becoming an elder isn’t determined by one’s age or résumé. Rather, it’s informed by characteristics like integrity, wisdom, joy, and imagination. Being an elder also involves empathy, creative problem-solving, and valuing questions just as much, or perhaps even more, than answers.

Deacons
Deacons are vital to the well-being of the church and wider community because of their commitment to compassion, witness, and service. They embody the gospel fully alive by caring deeply about all people, especially those experiencing loneliness, illness, hunger, financial hardship, oppression, systemically unjust policies, and other challenging situations that are all too common.
