Dear Lake B family and friends,
Warm greetings from your friendly members of session! These weekly letters remind us of how much we miss seeing so many of you, and how much we appreciate being part of the same community of God’s people at Lake B. This week we are grateful to God that John Wright came home on Wednesday after three weeks at Swedish battling Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. Many of us were praying and trusting God to restore John’s health, and we invite you to join us in continuing to pray for his ongoing recuperation, and for Lori as she cares for him and keeps the home fires burning. If you’d like to help provide meals for John and Lori, go to https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/numbers4john/journal, click on “Ways to Help,” then click on “meal train.” It’s easy and free to create an account. Follow the steps, and please note special instructions. Thank you for considering this practical way to express our love for John and Lori. A couple of quick business items: In a meeting on May 19, we approved the following: We will continue with online worship services through the end of August, 2020. Like all of you, we had hoped that circumstances with the novel coronavirus might have changed by now. However, as the experts in virology and epidemiology remind us again and again, much remains that is unknown, a vaccine has not yet been developed, and the virus is not yet contained or under control. The ongoing risk to public health and safety is great, and we want to do our part to safeguard the health and well-being of our community. We are continuing to strengthen our online presence, making it easier to access and providing more ways to stay connected with each other, so “stay tuned.” If you would like to participate in either the Wednesday evening Zoom conversations or the last-Sunday-of-the-month Justice League Happy Hour conversations, please contact Tom Lane at TL98136@gmail.com. Lake B will allow groups to use the building in accord with the church’s policies and with Washington State guidelines that include how to gather safely (maintaining cleanliness, observing social distancing). We believe the guidelines developed by the State of Washington provide clear and helpful cautions and procedures that allow us to make the building available to groups who agree to follow the guidelines and honor specific requests from Lake B staff as well. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have questions or would like to discuss these decisions further. May God open our eyes to see both the gifts and the needs all around us during this season, and may God knit us together and lead us in responding. Yours faithfully, Lake B Session Isaac Conver Melinda Mackey-O’Brien Matt Pfiffner Tom Lane Peggy Meyer Pulemau Savusa Kristi Lonheim Darwin Paet Marty Sparks Sia Westerlund |
