Dear Lake Burien Family,
We are writing this letter to share with you a recent decision made by the LBPC Session Elders. As elders of Personnel, we recently spent nearly 9 hours with Pastor Lina conducting staff reviews. We were struck by each person's commitment and passion for the ministry that God has given them at Lake B. They have responded with creativity and energy to meet the needs of the church and broader community during the COVID closure and crisis and racial uprising. It has been relentless and demanding work. In recognition of this, Session voted to provide time for staff to unplug, reflect, and recharge by closing all Lake B operations and granting our staff two weeks of additional paid leave from Monday January 4 - Friday January 15. During that time, the office will be closed. Additionally, we will not have our usual Facebook Live worship services Sunday December 27, January 3 and January 10. Suggestions for alternative options for Sunday worship will be provided in Pastor Lina's eblast on this Friday and will also be posted on our website. The office will be closed beginning January 4 and will reopen on January 18th. If you have questions related to the office, or to property, or to finance, please call the church office and leave a message. The office phone number is 206-242-6023. The voicemail box will be checked every day and your message will be forwarded to the right person. If you need to speak with Anne Tiernan in the finance office, her email address is: finance@lbpc.org. If you have prayer requests or other needs for support, please call 360-207-4378 and you will be connected to Elder Tom Lane or Elder Susan Okamoto Lane. They will be happy to take your call. You can also reach them via email: Tom- tl98136@gmail.com Susan - sl98136@gmail.com We believe that stewardship involves caring for all that God has given us, which includes our human needs for rest and renewal after significant exertion. We invite you to join us in thanking our staff for their outstanding work of the past year and in supporting them during this time off. Sincerely, Marty Sparks, Personnel Elder Marcy Yoshida, Personnel Elder (If you have questions, please: personnel@lbpc.org) |
